The Castle Directory

The aim of the project is to create a comprehensive directory of castles across the UK, with detailed and accurate historical details and high quality images, video and illustrations.

It's a fairly ambitious undertaking for one person, there's around 1400 castles in the UK alone. Eventually, i'll need to call on others to help turn this into something more substantial. I am not a historian and so lack the knowledge required to make this a genuinely useful resource. For now, my aim is to create basic listings for each castle so that I can reach out for help to improve the quality of the information on the site.

My hope is that I can help to coordinate the project and work in collaboration with those with specialist knowledge, be that historians, artists, photographers etc. I would like to build a community who also see value in creating such a resource.

I think to preserve this information about our history is a worthwhile endeavour and I can use my knowledge of design and web development to help present this information in an engaging and interesting way.
